Have you ever practiced pathworking? Some call it shamanic journeying. Good practice for pathworking is to establish a middle ground from which to begin your explorations of other realms. Many years ago when I was learning these techniques from in-person teachers as well as books (try The Celtic Shaman by John Matthews), I established for myself a safe middle ground reminiscent of a meadow from my childhood. From this meadow one may follow a path either down to a well or up to a gate or door at the top of a gentle hill. The well and gate/door are entryways to other realms full of symbolic information and connections with spirit.
This meadow has changed over the years that I have been journeying from it as a starting point. Recently with journeys I have led during this Venus retrograde, the meadow has grown beautiful wild rose bushes in the distance that fill the space with sweet scent. Being a human in a body is hard. Learning a practice of taking out of body journeys (soberly!) can be a comfort. There are other realms, other realities beyond this one. Visiting them expands consciousness, can bring healing, and may even change our experience of the common reality.
This poem’s point of view is extremely exclusive, as seen in the first four lines. In truth, there are many passageways to the long beyond. And perhaps we can also consider each of those passageways simply a “short poem”.
